Mainland Catch Privacy Policy
Your privacy on the Internet is important to us. This privacy policy discloses what information we gather as part of our Mainland Catch app (the service), how we use it, and how to correct or change it.

We gather various information about users of our product. This information can be split into three categories:

Trip Information
Start Time The date and time that the trip was created in the app
End Time The date and time that the trip was ended by the user in the appLocation
The location (latitude and longitude) of the app throughout the trip
Platform The fishing platform (e.g. launch, wharf, etc...)
Fishers Names of fishers on the trip
Fish See Fish Information
Sightings See Sighting Information
Fish Information
Catch Time The date and time that the fish catch was entered in the app
Image Image(s) of the fish taken
Species The species of the fish
Size The size of the fish in centimetres
Fisher The name of the fisher that caught the fish
Method The method used to catch the fish (e.g. rod, net, pot, etc...)
Location The location (latitude and longitude) where the phone was when the catch was recordedKeptWhether the fish was kept or returned
Sighting Information
Sightings relate to marine mammal or other sightings recorded by the user.
Sighting Time The date and time that the sighting was entered into the app
Image Image(s) of the sighting
Species The species that was sighted
Location The location (latitude and longitude) where the phone was when the catch was recorded
Security
We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
Use of your information
The primary purpose of the app is to improve data on recreational fisheries. The app was build in collaboration with the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). Aggregated data will be shared with MPI, where individuals will not be identifiable in any way and locations will be aggregated into fishing zones.
We will use information we collect from you for the primary purpose for which it is collected and for such other secondary purposes that are related to the primary purpose of collection.
Access and removal of Information
You have the right to seek access to the personal information held about you and to advise us of any inaccuracy. There are some exceptions to this right set out in the Privacy Act. If you make an access request, we will ask you to verify your identity and specify what information you require. We may charge a fee to cover the costs of meeting your request.
Updates to our information practices
We reserve the right to change this policy. By continuing to use the service, you agree to be bound by the amended policy. You should check from time to time to see if the policy has changed.
